Thief injures shopkeeper during robbery

The owner of the shop attempted to resist the thief but could not stop him making off with an unspecified of cash

A 37-year-old shopkeeper was injured by a thief who robbed his shop in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The shopkeeper was injured when he tried to resist the burglar who broke into his shop in Immaculate Conception Street Hamrun at roughly 3:15am.

According to a police statement, the burglar entered the shop through a window while the owner was still inside. The owner was injured in the ensuing struggle, before he made off with an unspecified amount of cash.

Police investigations are underway.
